International Zhautykov Olympiad

Annual International Zhatykov Olympiad on Mathematics and Physics, having been held since 2005, is the most grandiose and significant project. It was encouraged by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, The Republican Scientific Practical Centre “Daryn” and Zhautykov Republican Specialized Physics-Mathematics boarding school for gifted students.

The aim of the Olympiad:
- the propaganda of physics and mathematical science among the schoolchildren;
- the development of the international cooperation and the creative exchange of experience in the field of organization and holding of the Olympiad for gifted students which is under the motto of the Olympiad “We come to friendship through Mathematics and Physics”.

The main feature of this Olympiad is the summing up the results of individual credits on each subject and team credits by the total results with the aim of finding out the rating of the best seven teams presenting one specialized school.

Dear friends!

We are glad to inform you the VI International Zhautykov Olympiad on Mathematics, Physics and Computer science will be held on 11-17th of January, 2010, on the basis of Republican Specialized Physics and Mathematics school after Zhautykov, in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Teams of foreign countries from specialized physical and mathematical schools, lyceums, and other schools are invited. Each team must consist of no more than 7 participants: 3 participants on mathematics, 2 on physics and 2 participants on informatics and 1 or 2 team leaders (the physicist, the mathematician, the teacher of informatics). The team leaders have to speak one of the three official languages of Olympiad: Kazakh, Russian or English. Each contestant can write tasks on her/ his native language. Not complete teams are allowed. Teams of several schools from one country can take part in Olympiad. The organizing committee of Olympiad can limit the number of teams of the schools representing one country or city.

The results of Olympiad are summed up in personal credit in each subject and in team credit by the total scores.The rating of a school will be defined by personal achievements of all contestants of the team, presented by one school. The best school will be awarded by diplomas and valuable presents.

The Organizing Committee will bear all official expenses of the team including food and accommodation as also local transportation during their stay in Almaty, for the official period of the Olympiad. The cost of travel to and from Almaty, health and travel insurances will be your responsibility.
